So a while ago a friend of mine said to me: “Sophie, you know you should write a blog, right? I mean, you do all this writing and you have no where to put it. People would love to read it and it’d help you so much with getting you to write every day!”
I thought, ‘what they hey, what’ve I got to lose?’ And so I said “yeah sure, why not?” Without really realising what I was agreeing to and not quite expecting things to move as fast as they have. It turns out when my friends want something to happen, it happens!
So, well, here I am with a blank blog and a whole lot of panic.
I know that people say the beginning is always the worst part of any project, but that’s never been the case for me.
I know that people say the beginning is always the worst part of any project, but that’s never been the case for me. Beginnings are what I’m good at, I mean really good at. I have started so many projects over the years that I have lost count. I’m pretty damned good at endings too, but the middles? The middles are a bitch. Getting past that hump where your project just seems like it’ll never end or your story is getting lost in the vortex that is your mind. With ideas swirling around everywhere, trying to pick the one that’ll keep everything flowing in the direction you want it to is damned hard.
This blog is, for me at least, a personal challenge.
It’s going to be a record of all the ramblings and snippets going on in my head; along with both short and long stories, images that inspire me and contributions from my wonderful friends. It’s a very public way of ensuring that I build good writing habits. I have a deal with the lady that helped me create this: I send her at least 200 words a day. This will become my place to post said words and will hopefully bring a smile to the faces of those that stumble upon it along the way.
I can’t guarantee you that what you read here will be to your liking but I will say that it will more than likely contain adult themes and language, so you have been warned.
If you’re up for that, then read on. This will be a journey for us all and I have no idea where the destination even is. Quite frankly, I don’t really care, because the view is looking pretty darn good from where I’m standing right now.
OK…let’s do this! Time to jump folks, wish me luck!
